This week’s music comes from none other than Chuck Berry. Chuck’s style and mannerism on stage and songwriting ability off it had made him an influential figure in the history of Rock & Roll. Chuck’s other hit song ‘Johnny B. Goode’ is the only Rock & Roll track on the Golden Voyager – making it the one single to travel furthest off the charts. Born Charles Edward Anderson Berry, Berry’s legacy as a Rock pioneer can aptly be summed up by this bit from his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame biography:
While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll, Chuck Berry comes the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together.
Berry died last Saturday due to Cardiac Arrest. He was aged 90 but is now a musical immortal. God rest his soul.
