Film of the Week | Sicario (2015)

This week’s film is the 2015 crime thriller Sicario, starring Benecio del Toror, Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Jon Bernthal, directed by Denis Villeneuve. A gritty revenge thriller, Sicario is markedly distinct from other revenge movies. A grim portrayal of the drug cartel of Mexico, shot mainly on the border between Mexico and United States, Sicario tells the story of a mysterious agent named Alejandro Gillick (Benecio del Toror) who taps in on a mission of critical importance for the FBI and the DEA, led by Kate Macer (Emily Blunt). The film follows the team’s journey into the dark and desolate valleys of drug cartels, laden with heavy action and a great soundtrack as the governor. Alejandro’s mission however remains a mystery until the end.
